The Ellen von Unwerth prize excited me as soon as I saw it because her style is such ripe opportunity for smoldering hot expression.

I’ve also been a huge fan of photographer Shurie’s work for a while. She certainly knows how to take incredibly sexy pictures of women.

I travelled to LA last week and had the incomparable chance to bring those things together and create “Cheap Perfume”

We got inspired and in a public park in Simi Valley I sat on a curb and did my makeup with a hand held mirror while Shurie curled my hair, in the wind, with her fingers, a few bobby pins, and some hairspray. Then we went and hid in a dugout so I could take my clothes off for ya’ll with 5 year olds running by on the other side of the wall. Yes, guerilla photo shooting at it’s best with some perfectly elegant trash results. Worthy of Unwerth.
